Colleen Boyle is currently in her second year of the MPH program in the Department of Maternal and Child Health at UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health. She is from Munster, Indiana and has a B.A. in Anthropology and Pre-Health Studies from the University of Notre Dame. Her professional background includes academic research, nonprofit programming, and government agency work in international development and global health. These experiences inspired her to pursue a career in global health program development, monitoring, and evaluation. Curamericas’ focus on maternal health drew Colleen to the organization. This fall, Colleen will transition from an Operational Research Intern to a Program Support Intern working on the casa maternas in Guatemala. 

Kristine Chukwuma is from High Point, NC and is currently in the global studies M.A program at UNC-Chapel Hill. Her interest in global health led her to Curamericas. She previously volunteered with the organization and is excited to gain more public health knowledge through an internship experience. Although still undecided about her future plans, Kristine has interests in law school or governmental work. Kristine is the Events and Outreach Intern for the upcoming fall fundraisers.

Shelby Davenport is from Clayton, NC and graduated from East Carolina University in 2017. The unique mission and methodology of Curamericas Global drew Shelby to the organization. With the encouragement of her professor, Shelby applied for the internship program.  Shelby hopes to apply her global health and nonprofit skills towards her work as a Program Support Intern this fall. In the future, Shelby hopes to positively influence those around her by creating sustainable change and improving the wellness of the world one community at a time.

Cecilia Gines is in her second year of a Masters of International Studies at NC State University. Once she returns home to Argentina, Ceci aims to pursue a career in international development. She aspires to work at organizations such as the United Nations Development Program or the World Bank. Through these roles, she hopes to apply the skills and experiences she gained by studying abroad in the US. Ceci joined Curamericas Global because she was interested in learning more about global health. She began her internship working in data analysis and will continue working on the Guatemala program this fall. 

Connor Goggin is from Pinehurst, NC. He received a BA in Political Science and Public Policy from UNC-Chapel Hill. During college, Connor advocated for sexual assault prevention through UNC Safety and Wellness and ONE Act. After graduating from UNC, Connor interned with the Palladium Group and gained experience in research, data analysis, and evaluation for global health projects. He would like to continue working in global health as well as learn more about economic development. Connor heard about Curamericas Global through the Triangle Global Health Consortium. Soon after, he decided to join Curamericas Global as a Program Support Intern because of their focus on community and data to implement long-lasting solutions. 

Victoria Hallman is from Greensboro, NC. She is a junior studying Health Policy and Management BSPH at UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health. She is also pursuing a double major in Biology BA and a minor in Medicine, Literature, and Culture. During her time at UNC, Victoria has been involved with a variety of public health clubs, conferences, and volunteering experiences. Her interests are in global health programs, health policy, and disease control. Victoria was drawn to Curamericas because of their focus on treating preventable illnesses in a culturally sensitive setting. This fall, Victoria is the Digital Marketing Intern, focusing on social media and other creative outlets. 

Grace Jaworski is currently pursuing her MPH at UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health in the Department of Maternal and Child Health. In the future, she would like to support emergency reproductive health through program development or monitoring and evaluation. Her desire to work with an organization that empowers women and communities brought her to Curamericas. Furthermore, she appreciates the culturally appropriate methods that Curamericas uses to improve health and wellness. Grace utilizes her passions as a Program Support Intern for the Kenya project.

Charlotte Patterson recently graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with an undergraduate degree in public policy and global studies. While working for Curamericas Global as an Administrative Intern, Charlotte hopes to apply her interest in global health to learn about the inner-workings of a global health non-profit and gain connections for a future career in public health. Charlotte plans to eventually pursue a Masters of Public Health.

Austin Regnerus is a senior at UNC-Chapel Hill double majoring in Public Policy and Psychology with a minor in Social and Economic Justice. She is originally from Durham, NC where she spent many years volunteering at elementary schools and fundraising for charities. From these experiences, Austin decided to pursue a career in non-profit work. She was drawn to Curamericas because of their emphasis on helping under-served mothers and children while simultaneously protecting their cultural values. Austin is further inspired by the sustainable systems Curamericas builds for decades to come. As an Administrative Intern, Austin will be focusing on donor stewardship and office management.
